Okehampton Argyle thirds 2 Bampton Seconds 0 BOth teams started the game cautiously in a scrappy first ten minutes. The first chance of the game fell to Okehampton's John Coakley who found himself one on one with the Bampton goalkeeper but his lobbed effort crept just wide of the post. Bampton were quick to hit back with what was their only clear cut chance of the game, their winger unable to hit the target from 12 yards out. Argyle pushed for the opener with the midfield trio of Wooldridge, Hitchin and Eddy working hard to feed the pacy front line. Wooldridge came close with a trademark freekick before Shane Monnox forced the Bampton keeper in to a good save with his powerful effort from close range. With continued pressure from Okehampton a goal seemed inevitable and after good work from Tom Wall the ball fell to Coakley who couldn't keep his shot under the cross bar. In the second half Okehampton's best attacks came from the deep runs of the full backs Shaun Hiscock and Richard Caron with Hiscock's superb long range effort forcing another fine save from the Bampton keeper. Richard Eddy was next to try his luck from range, unleashing a powerful drive from 25 yards which the Bampton keeper tipped on the post. The closest the visitors came in a one sided second half was when the Bampton striker went down in the box but the referee ignored his penalty appeal.  Okehampton's breakthrough goal came from Richard Caron, his first for the club, whose low drive avoided everyone in the crowded box and nestled in the corner. Caron went close to scoring again, firing over from a Wooldridge corner. Bampton's frustration was beginning to get the better of them with Wall, Wooldridge and Eddy all on the receiving end of late challenges. Okehampton did well to keep to their game and continue to play the match on the front foot pushing for the second goal to kill the game off. Argyle got the second after John Coakley beat the offside trap to race clear before calmly rounding the keeper to pass the ball into an empty net. This was a excellent result for Okehampton whose unbeaten run now stands at 17.
