Okehampton Thirds 5
THIS was the first time in more than four years that Okehampton have put out a third team in its own right and it is testament to the present attitude and ethos of the whole club.
The Acorns travelled to North Cornwall, where conditions were wet and windy, to take on an experienced Bude team containing several first team players.
Despite the elements the visitors took the advantage and although a try by flanker Jamie Hoggins gave them the lead the Acorns were disappointed to be up only five points by the interval.
That lead was soon wiped out soon after the break when Bude scored a try. However, better strong defence and good handling by the visitors earned them a deserved draw.
The resolve of Jerry Ovens, Nobby White, Ollie Faye and Julian Courtier in the pack deserve mention as does the tackling of Phil Jones, Phil Woods and Rich Camies.
