Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 3
St Stephen Borough 1
Callington Thirds 1
CALLINGTON'S indifferent start to the season took on some substance with this workmanlike performance against unbeaten Borough.
Callington lacked height in midfield but they had quality, with Lee Rider and Tony Truscott playing delightful one-twos and opening up borough's defence. These two were well backed up by Luke Mcpherson.
Borough were more forceful but, following a strong left wing run by Ben Smith after 20 minutes, from his cross the ball went to Thomas. His firm shot had too much on it for the keeper to keep it from crossing the line.
Borough were back on level terms just before half-time, when for the first time in the game Callington's defence failed to close the forwards down and Corfield, having an outstanding game, was beaten from the edge of the penalty area.
The second half was end to end and both keepers had to be alert with fine saves.
