MANY excellent community projects are coming forward to be funded under the Market and Coastal Towns Initiative, members at the first meeting of the Tamar Community Futures Steering Group heard recently.
The group, consisting of ten appointed members, will be responsible for overseeing the Market and Coastal Towns initiative. Co-ordinator Jane Osborne said it would 'play an important role in the regeneration of Tavistock and its hinterland for years to come'.
The area covered by Tamar Communities Futures stretches from Callington to Tavistock and includes the parishes of Gulworthy, Bere Ferrers and Calstock.
Mrs Osborne said the group would shortly be seeking individuals and organisations that could offer their expertise on sub-groups looking into specific issues to 'help build sustainable regeneration of the area in a way that encompasses the economic, social, environmental and cultural needs and aspirations of those who live and work within it'.
