Truro 4
Tavistock 1
TAVISTOCK men's hockey team's tenuous hold on the top flight in their league came to an abrupt end last Saturday.
Tavistock began the game the stronger, linking well and attacking at speed down the left via Edwards and Aveyard. Two or three scoring opportunities were not capitalised on, due to the agility of the home keeper.
Against the run of play Truro scored their first after the ball was given away just outside the visitors' D. Truro's second swiftly followed, again after confusion in the Tavistock defence.
Tavistock scored from a well taken short corner by Edwards.
If there can be a 'game of two halves' then this was it, because the second half bore little resemblance to the first.
Tavistock struggled to get into the game and whenever they did regain possession they swiftly passed the ball back to the ever grateful Truro, who seemed to be growing in confidence with every move.
Two more goals were slotted away by the home side, who eventually left the pitch, having leapfrogged Tavistock in the league.
