IN the final round of the Cornwall and West Devon League held at Meadowlands on Sunday, the open team of Richard Freedman, Matthew Lake, Pete Welsh and Mark Hennessey proved to be unstoppable.
In convincing style they swept the board in both the 4x50m freestyle and the 4x50m medley relay and in their individual events. 100m events: Richard, backstroke; Matthew, breastroke; Pete, fly; Mark, freestyle.
In the younger age groups Kirsty Best took first in the 11/under 50m breaststroke and Rebecca Mills also took first in the 13/under 50m freestyle.
The 15/under boys? team of Seb Lee, Michael Best, Will Crocker and Chris Ralph quickly followed with a win in the 15/under 4x50m freestyle relay. Kirsty Best claimed her second win in the 11/under backstoke and Jake Broome swam an excellent 50m fly in the 13/under event to take first place, while the 11/under 4x25m medley relay team of Laura Aspen, Kirsty Best, Jessica Cooke and Francesca Gould notched up another win for Tavistock.

Tavistock finished in second place to Newton Abbott with Devonport Royal third and St Austell fourth in an enjoyable competition.
Tavistock Swimming Club Championships 2003 are now well under way with a number of distance events being completed over the past two weeks. All members of the swimming club, not just the squad members, are encouraged to take part as it gives the younger swimmers a chance to gain valuable experience of competition conditions in their home pool and improve their personal best times.
All events are heat declared winners. An impressive 45 personal best times have been recorded by the swimmers over the events to date.
