ALL 175 children at Hatherleigh Primary School had a day out to remember on Tuesday October 18.
The youngsters enjoyed a rural day out at Lock's Park Farm, hosted by Rob and Paula Wolton.
The event was one of many taking place as part of Devon Hedge Week.
The day included several workshops, including dyeing with natural products, spinning and weaving, and each child helped to weave a giant willow ball for the school playground.
Energetic storyteller Clive Pig entertained with some tall tales, and each class produced colourful collages from the leaves, berries and seed heads found in the farm's rich hedges.
As a result of their visit, the children from the school will be competing in the Devon Hedge Group's art competition that runs until the end of January 2012.
Devon Hedge Week is an annual event run by the Devon Hedge Group in association with Devon Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group.
Its purpose is to raise awareness and appreciation of Devon's magnificent network of hedges, and it takes the form of a week-long programme of events and activities for all the family.
