A BAKERY in Tavistock town centre was burgled recently, and police believe the incident may be linked to a break-in a short time ago at a card shop in the town.

The thief in this case gained access to the building through Garden Lane, the small lane that runs from behind St Eustachius Church to Russell Street.

The shop was entered after 7pm on Saturday, January 11 and before 7pm the following day.

Police said it is likely the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday as the thieves would have made a great deal of noise.

They caused significant damage inside the building and stole some money.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw anybody in the vicinity of Garden Lane late on Saturday night or early Sunday morning, to contact them on 101, quoting crime reference number JT/14/53.
