AN INTERNATIONAL speaker whose career in the USA ranged from being a civil rights lawyer among the Eskimo in Alaska to a Christian minister in a city church in Chicago will be the guest at the next ?Taste and See? dinner. Carla Grosh-Miller, whose marriage has brought her to Somerset, admits that when she is not training clergy she is happiest ?mucking around in the garden?. The speaker, who will be at Tavistock College on March 30, is involved in national projects for the United Reformed Church to promote racial justice. Under the title ?Island Identities? Carla will talk about her trans-Atlantic journey and why she enjoys learning from differences between people. ?I found that as an American I even walk into a room in a different way to the British,? she said. Tickets for the event can be booked through Linda Medland on 01822 615940. This is the fourth of the Taste and See evenings for women, which are arranged by the churches of Tavistock.
