THREE Okehampton ladies have been taking part in a wacky race to help raise money for Children's Hospice South West.
Judy Pride, Lindsey Svensson and Ann Keelan set off from Okehampton on July 5 to take part in the Barmy to Barcelona Wacky Banger Rally.
As part of the challenge, the ladies had to buy a car for £300 or less, and make it worthy of such a wacky race by decorating it in as outlandish a way as possible.
The trio decided to decorate their car, a 1999 Saab 9-3, with characters from the smash-hit mobile video game, Angry Birds. The ladies are also dressing up as characters from the game to fully get in the mood of the event.
Rovio Mobile, the creators of Angry Birds, said: 'We're excited to see a fan tribute to Angry Birds in the Wacky Rally, and we wish them luck on their trip to Barcelona.'
The rally took the threesome through northern France, the Swiss Alps, rolling hills of Italy, Monte Carlo and ending up in the Catalan capital four days later. The ladies were due back in Devon yesterday (Wednesday).
Donations raised by the rally will go towards the running costs of the three hospices, which is more than £7 million annually.
The ladies have expressed thanks to Chris Hamley Saab Specialists for servicing their car, and to Rovio Mobile for allowing the team to use Angry Birds as their theme.
