An enterprise club based at Okehampton Business Centre has been launched to offer support and guidance to unemployed people who are considering setting up a business.

David Hinshelwood, of Business Information Point, who set up the enterprise club, said: 'New businesses represent the future of our economy, so we need to make sure that unemployed people with a good idea get the support they need to move into self-employment.

'New entrepreneurs and small business owners in Okehampton will be able to swap ideas and talk to guest speakers, including people from successful local businesses.'

The club will meet on Friday July 15 at Okehampton Business Centre from 10am to noon, and every fortnight thereafter.

Okehampton Foodbank also put out a renewed call for food gifts in June, specifically calling for donations of tinned meats, tinned fruit and fresh vegetables.
