THE Noel Coward song, 'Don't put your Daughter on the Stage Mrs Worthington' should not be taken too literally — it was actually about one unpromising girl and not, as often thought, a condemnation of the theatre. Noel Coward dedicated his life to the theatre — and to be a part of it, in any guise, is a thrilling experience. There is an opportunity for people to take part in two Noel Coward plays being staged by the Tavonians Theatre Company in March. The plays will give a fascinating portrayal of life in the mid-1930s. Auditions take place on Wednesday December 6 and rehearsals will start in January. It is hoped that one of the plays can be cast from young people, in their teens and twenties. The auditions, at 7.30pm, take place in the Guide Hall — the blue doors as you turn from Canal Road into Bedford Car Park. The auditions are open to everyone, whether already a member of the Tavonians or not, and whether wanting to be on stage or backstage.
