NOMINATIONS are being sought for this year's West Devon Mayoral Awards to thank the borough's unsung heroes and heroines, young and old.
All over West Devon there are people who are working hard to make things better for the area and now their efforts can be recognised by nominating them for the West Devon Mayoral Awards 2015.
The awards are held annually to recognise people who have done something particularly noteworthy within the borough or who have enhanced the reputation of West Devon on the national stage.
Last year, they were won by the Tavistock Memory Café, the Sticklepath and Okehampton Conservation (StOC) group and Tavistock College student Rebecca Venning who campaigned for improved youth funding.
Cllr Christine Marsh, Mayor of West Devon, who will lead the judging panel this year, said: 'I am really looking forward to reading the nominations and finding out about all the good work and achievements in our borough. I'm sure it will not be an easy choice.
'I would appeal to residents, schools and businesses to get their thinking caps on and nominate those individuals or groups who really help to make people's lives better or those who have achieved something outstanding.'
The awards fall into three categories — a young person (aged under 18); an organisation, or person (over 18) and an individual or group who have made a significant contribution to the conservation and protection of the natural environment of West Devon.
Nominations must be received by February 27, 2015.
