THE Mount House School senior play, performed at the end of last term and written and directed by Hugh Walkington, deputy head pastoral, was an affectionate parody of the well-known story of the Scarlet Pimpernel.

In this version, the Scarlet Pipistrelle secretly rescues French aristocrats from certain death on the guillotine while he was pursued by French revolutionaries determined to unmask him.

All Mount House year 7 and 8 pupils were involved, either on stage or backstage.

The Scarlet Pipistrelle was played to packed houses of governors, pupils, teachers, parents and friends over two nights.

The splendid sum of £228 was raised after the performances for Comic Relief.
