WEST Devon artist Stephie Reiss presented the lucky winner of a painting with her prize at her home last Friday.
Stephie, who lives on the edge of the moor between Okehampton and Chagford, recently displayed her paintings of ancient trees and forests in a solo exhibition at the Duchy Square Centre for Creativity in Princetown. At the event, Stephie donated one of her paintings as a raffle prize to raise funds for Save the Children. The raffle raised a grand total of £105.
Stephie said: 'The show at the Duchy was very successful, the best they have had so far. Over half the work was sold, buyers came from Kent, Hampshire, London and locally.'
The prize was won by Carol Amos from Chagford, someone Stephie knows well.
She said: 'Carol used to attend adult print-making workshops at my studio on Dartmoor. And I have taught two of her three children, the eldest Lilian for GCSE and AS Level. Carol's son David came to regular GCSE classes at my studio and obtained an A.
'So it is delightful that a family who have been closely associated with my teaching have drawn the winning ticket.'
Stephie is currently preparing for Devon Open Studios, where she will exhibit work at her own studio in September. For further details on Stephie and her work, visit her website on http://www.stephiereiss.com">www.stephiereiss.com
