I AM writing in the hopes that you will print some good news in this time of cuts and austerity.

I have recently been in Derriford Hospital, firstly on Medical Admissions — and then on Hexworthy Ward (I was suffering from a severe pneumonia).

I want to tell you and your readers, that contrary to the poor reputation our Plymouth hospital has had in recent years, my experience was extraordinary. I was nursed in the old-fashioned way, the intense care I was given from the medical staff was faultless, and both wards, cleaned by Serco, were spotless.

We have a hospital to be proud of — when you are seriously ill, the NHS at Derriford does truly care for you.
