THE switch on of Winkleigh's Christmas lights will take place in the village square on Tuesday, December 9.

This year, for the first time, Winkleigh Fair Committee has organised a Christmas market in the square from 5pm to 8pm, when local produce and locally produced crafts will be for sale.

There will also be a barbecue, roasted chestnuts, mince pies, mulled wine and cider punch. Children from Winkleigh Primary School will be in the square from 5pm singing carols. Father Christmas will be in attendance and the Christmas lights will be switched on at 7.30pm. Prizes will be given for the best decorated Christmas window, best decorated Christmas house and the best decorated Christmas street. Entry forms will be available from the end of November.
