OKEHAMPTON Carnival Committee would like to thank everyone for making the recent carnival such a success.

Thanks, of course, go to the many organisations who help on the day to ensure a safe and smooth-running carnival. Dartmoor Rescue Group and the ATC for marshalling, Steve Bolt and Ross Campbell for erecting the barriers, S W Highways for the loan of the signs, the Cub Scout Group for their unusual ?appeal float? and St John Ambulance.

We also thank the many shops and businesses who supported the carnival by providing advertisements for our programme or displaying posters, Heinz, Waitrose and Bob Gee Estate Agents for sponsorship, White House Services for supplying the sweets for the children in the afternoon procession and Devon County Jewellers for donating the gifts for the queen and her attendants.

Thanks also to Light Hire for the kind loan of the generators. Our thanks too to the many collectors and Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band who gave their time freely for both the afternoon and evening processions.

We also say a big thank you to the local farmers for the loan of tractors, trailers and sheds, without which the colourful floats could not be constructed. We must also recognise the many careful drivers who ensure the safe passage of the procession along the carnival route.

We are also grateful to Krafty Cards and J C Books for distributing and collecting entry forms and also to the Fire Service who, once again, kindly led the evening procession through the town.

Finally, our thanks go to the many participants without whom there would be no carnival. Our very grateful thanks to everyone who helped in any way at all and we look forward to your continued support for our 2005 carnival!
