SSAFA West Devon is grateful for the widespread support demonstrated at the Coffee Morning on June 26, held to further the voluntary work we do with the local ex-service community — including families. The publicity generated before the event by so many businesses, organisations, individuals and public services, and their generous support of the raffle and plant stall, all contributed to the success of the event in Tavistock Parish Centre which raised £489.14 in just over two hours. However, none of that kind work would in the end have been worthwhile without the generosity of all those who attended: we were very busy throughout the morning. We are really pleased that by this event we have substantially increased awareness of what we do locally through the very many visitors who came, including West Devon and Torridge MP Geoffrey Cox, West Devon Mayor David Cloke and deputy mayor for Tavistock Mandy Ewings. Thank you one and all. Commander Alan Johnson RN (Ret'd) Tavistock I WOULD like to thank the Engage Theatre Company for a great show on Wednesday, June 24 at The Wharf. It was lovely to see how much the players enjoyed providing the entertainment and the audience certainly showed their appreciation by joining in with singing and clapping. We look forward to another chance to see this talented group in the future. Pam, Trevor and Marian Tavistock THANK you so much to everyone who came to Tavistock College last week on Monday evening to support ShelterBox at my talk about my trips to Everest and Nepal. With donations from entries, the raffle for the wonderful quilt and donations for The Wharf's Wistman's Wood walk we raised enough to add another ShelterBox to the college's magnificent fund raising efforts. Simon Dell Tavistock THE Cornwall Air Ambulance jumble sale raised £420 at The Public Hall, Gunnislake on June 13. Thank you for your support and helpers. Caroline Sutton and Agnes Thomas Gunnislake ON Friday June 12, at about 1.10pm, I tripped and fell on the pavement outside Creber's. I would like to say a huge thank you to all who came to my rescue — to the two men who picked me up and took me into Creber's and to Creber's for the use of a chair and some water. Now that I have some sense of humour back and my bruises are colourful, without seeming flippant, I'd like to ask the man who awarded me 'ten out of ten for that', whether it was for 'content, artistic impression or both.' That aside, once again, my very grateful thanks to all concerned. Mrs E A Cole Yelverton Terrace Tavistock
