ON behalf of the Lions Club of Tavistock, I would like to thank all those who braved the rain and cold to attend our annual fireworks display on Saturday November 1 which was held in the Meadows, by courtesy of Tavistock Town Council.

The Lions organise the display so that people can enjoy fireworks in Tavistock without the dangers of setting them off at home.  We understand that animals may be upset by the noise but hope that by having a single display in an open space, it will restrict this to a relatively short time.

This year there seemed to be a number of smaller displays and individual fireworks set off in Tavistock over a longer period than usual with many of them in residential areas.

If any organisation would like to join with the Lions Club in planning for next year to co-ordinate or combine their display with ours, we should be very pleased to hear from them at

Hopefully we can reduce the number of separate fireworks, cause less distress to animals and achieve an even better display for Tavistock.
