ON June 28 my friends and I held a coffee morning in Mary Tavy for Leukaemia and the Oncology units at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. I am delighted to say — so far — the fund is standing at £710. I am aiming to make that £1,000 within 12 months. My thanks go out to everyone who gave me their help and support in any way. Kath Sydenham ON June 13, 2014, the members of Tavistock Golf Club held a fundraising day for people with Parkinson's. Tavistock Parkinson's Support Group had its stand manned by volunteers and members to raise awareness of Parkinson's and the group. Everyone had a lovely day and the amazing sum of £5,877.50 was raised. on July 23 a representative of Parkinson's UK was presented with a cheque of £5,399.75 which is hoped will go towards the funding for another specialist nurse in this area. The sum of £587.75 was presented to members of the local support group and this will be used to take the members on a trip and on routine running costs. Thank you so much to Mark and Nicky Hoar, Patrick and Sue Stewart and all at the golf clubs who worked so hard to make the day successful.
