MORE than 40 young men and women will be struggling across Dartmoor with a 60kg ShelterBox in tow next week. 

The gruelling endurance test, on July 1, is part of a week long Rotary Youth Leadership course run at Brimpt's Farm near Dartmeet. Candidates from Yelverton, Okehampton, Princetown are among those taking part, sponsored by Tavistock and Yelverton Rotary Clubs.

A spokesperson for the Rotary Club said: 'The programme combines exercises in leadership and communication skills as well as offering the candidates a chance to learn about businesses and institutions, explore career paths, share ideas and experiences and learn how to coordinate youth activities and community service projects.

'Alongside these skills, the programme also offers candidates the chance to listen to inspirational talks from some of the region's most important community leaders and business figures.'
