TAVISTOCK Tennis Club and the Tavistock Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club played a ?social? bowls match in Tavistock last Friday evening, when the inclement weather eased sufficiently for one and half hours? play. This is thought to be the first such match in recent years. As the tennis players had had little practice and some having never played bowls before, some players from each team were mixed to even things up. It was notable that the tennis players improved as the matched progressed! With an even number of rinks used the result was agreed as a ?diplomatic? draw. It is hoped to have a more formal match next year with possibly a cup. The match was organised by Terry Lanchberry (Tennis) and Ernie Piper (Bowls). A very enjoyable evening for all rounded off with refreshments.
