THE committee of the Friends of The Wharf wholeheartedly support the plea from the Tavonians in last week?s issue. We think that it is essential for the Wharf to continue its role as Tavistock?s unique entertainment centre: films, stage shows, concerts, gigs and talks - all that plus an art gallery and a coffee-shop. Anyone interested in taking it over might have thoughts about changing its function, so it is important that we all make sure that both the town and the borough council know how we feel. In the end it is those councillors who will have to appraise any possible application for a change. It is those councillors who will have to decide whether to give the Wharf their complete support. All of you who want the Wharf to carry on the way it is now, please tell your councillors. Now, before it is too late. Write to them, ring them up, e-mail them, or simply stop them in the street. But tell them what you think. Ivor Williams Chairman on behalf of the committee of the Friends of The Wharf
