ANOTHER meningitis immunisation session is being held in Okehampton in February for young people between the ages of 15 and 17 who missed out last term.
The initial phase of the Government's Meningitis 'C' Vaccine Campaign before Christmas involved students from Years 11,12 and 13 at Okehampton College being vaccinated.
Exeter and District Health Service has arranged a 'drop-in' session between 10am and 2pm at the Riverside Centre, Okehampton Castle Hospital, on Saturday February 19, for students who missed out last time or those 15 to 19-year-olds who no longer attend the college.
Any student for whom consent was given but was unable to attend the last session will be notified directly.
Teenagers of this age and babies have been the first groups targeted by the Government in the vaccine campaign because they are considered to be the most at risk from meningitis 'C'.
GPs are currently immunising babies and children up to two-years-old with the same vaccine.
There are plans to return to the college later this year to immunise 11 to 14 year-olds and visits are being planned to the primary schools.
Child health manager Dave Price said by the end of the year all children from 0 to 17 would be immunised.
