Okehampton U15s 47
Exeter Chiefs U15s 0
IT did not take too long after the start for Oke hooker Lamby to cross the line for the first try. This was quickly followed by a try from Luke Dennis which was converted by captain Liam Wilkins.
Okehampton pressed forward with Jack Thomas making some good breaks from the kick offs and Stephen Downing performing well in the scrum and in his support work.
Luke Dennis, who made some awesome tackles and runs, scored his second try which was again converted by Liam Wilkins.
Three times the Exeter Chiefs broke through the back line only to be prevented from scoring by some excellent recovery tackles.
The second half started in similar fashion with pressure from Okehampton and with Dean Abrams putting in some big tackles. Liam, who was judged to be man of the match with some excellent kicks, then scored a try of his own which he converted.
The move of the match came when stand-in full back, Will Copp, ran from just inside the Chiefs half towards a forward kick, caught the ball and ran past the opposition backs, powering through a few tackles to cross the line.
Winger Jordan Cornthwaite escaped several Chiefs tackles before cutting inside to run in a try converted by Liam.
After a number of good, strong penetrating runs both from playing centre and then flanker, Josh Bush broke through the defence to cross the line with time to touch the ball down under the posts — with another conversion by Liam.
This was an excellent performance by the whole team but with special praise for Steven Paul and Dan Podd.
