Exe ladies 1
Okehampton ladies secs 2
Okehampton travelled to an unfamiliar pitch to face Exe, a youthful and skilled side. The game started with both sides making strong runs and attacks but any shots on Oke's goal were comfortably thwarted by backs Katie Adams and Nettie Collett, with Adams making some excellent clearances.
Nicola Stoneman's blocking and tackling at left half proved excellent in halting any speedy attempts by Exe.
Oke continued to work hard, with Inner Sophie Tripp's running providing lots of options for Collett's hit-outs with Maria Jones looking dangerous and always ready to receive the ball out at right wing. Any line balls by the opposition were picked up and turned into advantages for Oke by the hardworking Amanda Sim.
The visitors' patience was rewarded when a straight ball from captain Sophie Whiteley found joint player of the match Winnie Rademaker who coolly dodged multiple defenders to strike in the away side's much deserved first goal.
At half time, a few changes in position allowed joint player of the match Katy Graves to shine with her solid tackling and quality passing. This led the way for much more structured passing as Oke really began to press the opposition's 'D' with shot after shot from Rademaker.
Exe seemed to be everywhere and many Oke clearances were eagerly snapped up by the keen opposition. With Exe pushing for an equaliser, a few short corners were conceded though all were comfortably saved by goalkeeper Shannon Osman. Osman continued to make more brilliant saves but inevitably a goal was conceded.
Oke would not settle for a draw and were rewarded with a much deserved winning goal when a strike from Rademaker took a deflection from a defender before being slotted over the line by a well positioned Annette Goswel to ensure Okehampton's win.
