MID Devon Pony Club?s Tetrathlon squad?s brilliant year continues. The Junior Girls won the team competition at the recent Area 15 and 16 championships along with individual wins for Charlotte Rowe in the Junior Girls and for William Leech in the Novice class.
The team of Charlotte Rowe, Jessica Mortimore and Lucy Almond were the youngest in the class and got off to a great start with Lucy having the best shoot. They then excelled in the pool with Charlotte having best swim; Lucy improving her PB by a staggering 17 metres and Jess by 10 metres. The riding course was beautifully presented but very challenging and Charlotte produced a great round to finish clear and inside the time; while Jess, who hadn?t jumped a full junior course before, finished with just a few time faults. All three girls then put in great runs to secure their victory, with Charlotte finishing first, Jess sixth and Lucy seventh.
In the Novice Junior class, William Leech ran out a comfortable winner. Although he started with a disappointing shoot, a good swim kept him in contention at the start of the ride. He then rode the best round of his career to finish with 1400 points something only 15 out of the 70 competitors managed all day. He was still only in second place at the start of the run, but stormed round, finishing with the fastest time in the class.
In the mini girls, Lottie Trerise and Rosa Malseed both had stunning shoots, scoring 960 points and having joint best shoot. Lottie then ran the fastest time in the class while Jessica Jeffery, undaunted by a nasty fall, put in a brave run to help the team finish in fourth place.
