A BIG cream tea has been organised by Tavistock Friends of Children?s Hospice South West to help raise money for the charity?s plan for a new building. The event is being held tomorrow (Friday) at Whitchurch Village Hall between 2.30pm and 4.30pm, as part of the friends? fundraising effort to support the proposed third building for life limited children and their families in Plymouth and Cornwall. Eddie Farwell, co-founder and chief executive of CHSW, said the trustees of the charity have recognised there is a need to bring the special care offered by the organisation nearer to the children of Cornwall and Plymouth. He said: ?We have been asked to do it by so many of our supporters and by so many families of life limited children in Cornwall and Plymouth who use the area?s only hospice at Little Bridge House. ?A children?s hospice in Cornwall serving Plymouth and Cornwall will complete the final jigsaw in a network of children?s hospice care, stretching from west Cornwall to South Gloucestershire.? The Children?s Hospice South West Plymouth and Cornwall Appeal was launched earlier this month. The appeal is for £5 million which will cover the cost of the building and one year?s running costs. The fund already stands at £500,000. Joining the friends and helping to contribute to the fund at the cream tea event will be children and members of staff from the Old School in Whitchurch. The children are currently busy making scones, posters and pictures of their ?poorly? teddies to bring along, and learning about the care children receive at the hospice. The tickets are £2.50 per person, children are free, and will include a tea and a raffle. The tickets are on sale at Whitchurch Post Office.
