THE sky was full of rain, the clouds were gathering and the wind was blowing but this did not deter the ladies relay team from Tavistock Athletic Club from taking part in the Town Relays last week.

The ladies, in keeping with the World Cup theme, ran as the Tavy Wag's and with rain filled wigs, running mascara and fading lip-gloss each wag took to the course holding high the Union Jack and passing this as their baton.

Each wag successfully negotiated ankle deep puddles narrowly missing getting their hair caught in drooping branches and without a single broken nail the wags completed their 1.1 mile lap in a combined time of 34 minutes 53 seconds.
