Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 4 east

St Dominick 2

Mary Tavy 4

MARY Tavy stayed in premier position in the league by extending their excellent away record this season. The pitch, which was uneven, made control hard to master and Tavy took a little time to settle. St Dominick battled hard and on this performance hardly deserved to be at the league base.

Pressure eventually paid off when James Coole, who worked tirelessly on the right side, rounded the defence to open the Tavy account. Two goals were added from Mark Piper and Scott Dent and with three goals to the good Tavy were odds on to add to their tally.

Dent, Coole and Alan Grylls all had chances to increase the lead but it took Andy Pedrick, who was named man of the match, to make a goal-line clearance to ensure it stayed 3-0 at the interval.

With the second half underway and the home team facing the incline Tavy pressed for more goals and Shaun James made it four from a corner. Tavy made three changes bringing on Reeves, Patton, and Maddocks for Dent, Pedrick and Dudley and seemed to be in perfect control of the match.

What happened next was almost cartoon-like, as a hopeful punt upfield took a bounce off a rut and flew past a helpless Simon Dundrow-Smith to make it 4-1.

Inside the last ten minutes the score was 4-2 with a cross-cum shot which looped into the net past a bewildered Tavy keeper who must have thought his luck had ran out all in one day.

But Mary Tavy, although rocked, regained composure to see out another away win.

St Breward 0

Bere Alston Utd 2

BERE were made to work hard for this victory. St Breward harried and stopped everything Bere threw at them.

The introduction of Hann at half-time paid off with his first touch. He laid the ball through to Wheeler to score for Bere.

Crabb was having a field day on the left and his probing caused havoc, with Bickle performing miracles in the St Breward goal.

Hann scored Bere's second with his usual clinical finish. Tomes was hacked down for a penalty but Wheeler's spot-kick was saved by S Bickle.

This Saturday Polperro, away 2pm kick-off, with the second leg of the semi-final of the division 3 cup — Bere lead 5-3 from first leg.
