TWENTY three members of the Tavistock Wheelers have entered the Dartmoor Classic, the major Devon cyclo sportive that passes through Tavistock and that takes place on June 24 next year.

This makes Tavistock Wheelers the second largest club in terms of entries, quite remarkable given the size of the club's catchment area.

The club has a wide range of ability levels, men, women and young cyclists, who have committed themselves more than six months in advance of the big day.

To help with the preparation, the club has put back the start of its Sunday rides until 9am, from December 3, to encourage more cyclists to maintain a core base of fitness over the winter months.

Every Sunday more than a dozen cyclists leave Bedford Square. During winter the emphasis is even more on a steady pace and the social side of a café stop.

New riders are always welcome- you don't need to have a particular target in mind.
