Wadebridge 38

Tavistock RFC 0

TAVISTOCK suffered a six try mauling at the hands of high flying Wadebridge at Molesworth Field on Saturday. However at half time Wadebridge were only eight points up and being made to work hard by the stubborn visiting defence.

Wadebridge kept up the pressure in the second half and scored five further tries, three of which came in the last ten minutes when Tavistock tired after tackling everything that moved for the previous hour.

Wadebridge went ahead after ten minutes with a penalty from fly half Tom Crothers. Tavistock then had the opportunity to level the scores but a penalty attempt from Richard West was off target.

The visitors kept putting pressure on their hosts but with little fluidity from the Tavistock three quarters Wadebridge easily kept their line intact.

After half an hour Wadebridge extended their lead when hooker Matt Ballard touched down after a line out catch and drive.

The second half was one way traffic with Wadebridge tearing Tavistock apart with some excellent inter passing moves and fine support play. Wadebridge opened the scoring with a try from left wing Luke Davidson quickly followed by a second try for hooker Ballard.

Tavistock then kept Wadebridge out and this was displayed when Wadebridge opted for a penalty kick converted by Leigh Charles rather than pressing for a try.

However then dam finally burst in the last ten minutes and Tavistock conceded three further tries from Grubb, O'Donnell and May one of which Charles converted.
