Volunteer rescuers with Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Tavistock were called out to an injured walker close to Devil’s Tor, near Princetown.
The team was called on Sunday, October 25, at 1.22pm to assist South West Ambulance Service with a casualty with a lower leg injury.
A spokesman said: “A full team callout was initiated and within 15 minutes we had five team members at our Tavistock rescue centre with the vehicles ready to go. Four members were also at the rendezvous point near Princetown, and 17 members on their way from other locations.
“While members were en route, we were informed that a Devon Air Ambulance had reached the site and their personnel did not require additional help to load the casualty into the aircraft.
Team members were therefore stood down as they were no longer needed.
