TAVISTOCK Town Council held its annual grants presentation evening at Tavistock Town Hall on April 28.

Twelve organisations and charities were successful in their applications for a grant from Tavistock Town Council this year and the former Mayor of Tavistock, Cllr Sue Bailey, presented a cheque to each group on behalf of the town council.

These funds will be used for a variety of reasons, including the support of activities and the purchase of equipment.

Grants totalling £22,402 were made.

Grants are awarded by Tavistock Town Council on an annual basis to support local organisations, clubs and charities in their endeavours.

Application forms need to be submitted by December 1 annually, with the successful applicants receiving their awards early in the following financial year.

The successful applicants this year were: CHICKS, Dartmoor Tinworking Research Group, Stannary Brass Band, Tavistock Carers’ Support Group, Tavistock Edge, Tavistock Heritage, Tavistock Miniature Rifle Club, Tavistock Musical Theatre Company, Tavistock Swimming Club, Torridge, North, Mid and West Devon Citizens’ Advice Bureau, Tavistock Youth Cafe and West Devon Art Workshops.

Cllr Sue Bailey acknowledged the amount of hard work and the enormous contribution these organisations make to the local community.

The former mayor also stated that Tavistock Town Council is always happy to consider supporting the various projects planned by the charities, clubs and organisations in the town.
