TAVISTOCK Junior Hockey Club played host to Launceston Juniors last Thursday. The matches took place in three age groups: U16, U13 and 10 and under. All three age groups played in triangular matches as a result of the high numbers of juniors.
The U16 Bs did not have a goalkeeper which was one of the major pitfalls. Thomas Honey played well and linked with Emma Passmore and Sarah Barratt.
Claire Bruna was goal hungry and always took a confident strike in order to ensure a goal.
When Tavistock U16 Cs played Launceston U16 it was still a great win for the Tavistock team by 7-0.
Robynne Honey was able to get the ball past numerous players and was always supported by James Barratt. Goalkeeper Oliver Frost made some excellent saves on the odd occasion when Tavistock could have been vulnerable in the defence.

The U16 Tavistock B team lost to Launceston U16 4-0 but it was a good game.
Chloe Bassett and Francesca Murphy battled and Murphy saved some excellent goals just before the line. When Tavistock did have the ball, Louisa Frost and Tom Ludwig worked well together but the team just could not find the back of the net.
Sarah Court was excellent on the wing and after being fed the ball from Nicola Hawkins and Charlotte Dawson, who played well in midfield, Court was able to drive the ball up the pitch.
Tavistock B team: Chloe Bassett, Francesca Murphy, Tom Ludwig, Sarah Court, Charlotte Dawson, Nicola Hawkins, Louisa Frost.
The final placement in the U16 was: 1st - Tavistock C; 2nd - Launceston; 3rd - Tavistock B.
The U13 Tavistock C team played Tavistock U13 A team. The score was close at 3-2 to Tavistock C team.
Michael Riddiough-Allen played well in goal and Gabriella Murphy battled well at the back preventing more goals. Kate Eadie was constantly running up and down the pitch to distribute the ball to both sides.
The forward line of Alice Toynton, Charlie Hubbard and Rufus Gould linked well and always battled back if the ball got taken from them. Hattie Cunningham ran around and picked up the free player.
When Tavistock C team U13 played Launceston U13 the score was 1-1 which was a fair outcome as the ball was evenly distributed between the two teams for the whole of the game.
The U13 Tavistock A team lost to Launceston U13 by just one goal at 2-1 to Launceston. Olivia Eadie worked her socks off and she and Barnaby Frost kept the team in the game.
Megan Tinsley had some good dribbling skills and passed the ball out wide to Jenny Pollock who took it past the opposition with ease. Anna Court stood steadfast in defence and is becoming an excellent defender. Newcomers to the club Anna Balm and Laura Aspen worked well and with determination during both games.
The final placement in the U13 was: 1st Tavistock C; 2nd Launceston; 3rd Tavistock A.
The 10 and under demonstrated excellent skills in their two matches against Launceston. When playing Launceston B, Tavistock won 4-1. Goals were scored from Matthew Edwards and Christian Brown.
Ella Selamn worked well with Edwards and Brown and helped to set a couple of goals. William Chapman played excellently for his first time in goal and only allowed two goals to be scored during both games.
Tess Bentley and William Steed battled hard through midfield and William Steed never gave up on the pitch. With newcomer Benjamin Murphy in defence, Tavistock were never under any main pressure. When Tavistock played Launceston A, it was a harder game and they had to fine tune their skills and hold the game at a 1-1 draw.
New players Ellyn and Ellie rolled on and off the pitch and worked hard.
The final placement for the 10 and under was: 1st Tavistock C; 2nd Launceston A; 3rd Launceston B.
