TAVISTOCK Men?s hockey team gave an excellent display against a youthful University side.
Tavistock started with passing moves involving Matt Way, Jason Lovett and Phil Honey. The strike followed an excellent penalty corner shot by Matt Way, allowing Nic Andrews to poach his first goal.
It did not take long before more goals followed. Jason Lovett converted Tavistock?s second from the penalty spot after the University goalkeeper illegally stopped a powerful shot from Kevin Lethbridge.
Andrews got his second and Tavistock?s third following excellent linking between captain Nick Aveyard and Nick Boot Handford.
Poor tackling from University led to Jason Lovett adding a fourth from another penalty flick and by the time Andrews completed his hat-trick midway through the second half Tavistock had secured victory.
The scoring was completed by the hard work of Matt Way, again from the penalty spot. The Tavistock defence of Cowen, Costello and Lethbridge was rock solid and a fantastic save came from keeper Nick Bradley.
