A free public weekend of squash and racketball is being staged by Tavistock Squash Club to mark it rising from the floodwaters.
The club off Pixon Lane is relaunching on Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4 with two days of celebrations after being forced to close for eight months when a corroded outside pipe leaked and damaged walls, fittings and court and other floors.
Wendy Savage, club chair, said: “We’re throwing open our doors to everyone of all ages and abilities to come and have fun playing squash and racketball to celebrate our reopening. We’re even having the mayor open us officially on Saturday.”
She thanked everyone who rallied round, volunteering to complete the repairs.
The club’s Facebook page has details about family, ladies’ over 50s and junior play sessions at the weekend.
