Tavistock 54

Exeter Saracens 7

TAVISTOCK started their league fixtures with a resounding victory against newcomers Exeter Saracens.

Playing at Sandy Park, Tavistock dominated every aspect of play and throughout the game.

Nimble hooker, Rob Sleep, was first to score, driving from the back of a rolling maul just five minutes into the game.

By half-time, Mike Liddon, Gareth Davies and Danny Evans had run in a try each with Josh Sutton missing just one conversion.

Tavistock relaxed noticeably, allowing Saracens a soft try and leaving the half-time score at 26-7.

The home side continued their domination in the second half, looking particularly strong in rolling mauls and threatening to score whenever the backs had the ball in hand.

Tavistock tightened their defence after the momentary lapse and Saracens never looked close to scoring again. Tavistock, however, started to pass the ball confidently and quickly with players frequently punching through the Exeter defence at different angles.

Liddon scored another try and was soon followed by scores from Mike Kent, Robin Weldon and Josh Sutton. Sutton's boot stayed on target and Tavistock notched an impressive result.

Despite the improvement in their performance there are some key areas of play that the Tavistock side will be keen to improve on before they face tougher competition.

Tavistock have another home league fixture this weekend and look forward to as much support as they enjoyed on Saturday.
