Tavistock RFC 16 Liskeard RFC 14 TAVISTOCK bounced back against Liskeard having to come from behind to win this keenly contested match. The fist half saw Tavistock generally on top taking the game to Liskeard. Midway through the half Tavistock took the lead with a penalty goal from Josh Sutton when Liskeard were penalised for an offside offence. The lead should have been at least doubled soon after when again Liskeard were penalised but Tavistock chose to run the penalty and scrum half Lee Greatrex?s dart for the line was foiled by the Liskeard defence. As half time approached Tavistock found themselves deep in their own half and instead of clearing the ball to touch they tried to run the ball out of defence via their forwards. The drive was stopped and flanker Tom Dawe was sent to the sin bin after being penalised for killing the ball at the resulting ruck. Liskeard took advantage and levelled the scores with a successful penalty kick, the last kick of the half. The second half saw Liskeard nose in front with a second penalty goal and this was answered with a Sutton penalty for Tavistock. Liskeard regained the lead with an unconverted try out wide from full back Bas Hocking after he outstripped the Tavistock defence. Tavistock came back and after receiving quick ball from the forwards Josh Sutton fed Tom Dawe, recently returned from the sin bin, and Tom scored close to the posts. Sutton converted. Back came Liskeard and they regained the lead with a speculative drop goal from flyhalf Marcus Hill. Tavistock would not be denied and after exerting pressure on the Liskeard defence were rewarded with a penalty goal which Josh Sutton converted to secure the victory. On Saturday Tavistock travel in the league to Kingsbridge. Kick-off 2:30pm.
