Tavistock 1st 0 ECV Hornets 0 TAVISTOCK came face to face with a top of the table team Hornets, who are two points in front of the home side. The game started well for Tavistock who were ruling the midfield from the off to created good chances for the strikers, Alford and Horton. Within the first minute Alford hit a powerful strike which was goal bound until the keeper pulled off a good save. Further opportunities came to Tavistock — a skilful run down the left from Cooley who set up Honey whose shot narrowly missed the right hand post. Hornets also came back at Tavistock to earn numerous short corners, however the Tavistock defence dealt with the threat. Further saves were also made by home keeper Bradley who, on his come back, made some awesome saves to keep Tavistock in the game. In the second half despite the evenly matched contest it was Tavistock came up with the better goal scoring opportunities. This came through several short corners — unfortunately these were not converted into goals. The best chance of the game came from a delicate ball through from Tavistock's Horton to set Honey up one on one with the Hornets keeper but the midfielder miscued his shot. This set the tone for the rest of the match through which neither side could finish the game off. However, Tavistock efforts won them a much deserved point to remain second in the table.
