TAVISTOCK Rugby Club Colts marched into Holland and met very little resistance but a huge amount of hospitality.

The squad of 19 players travelled the 15 hours to Oosterhout, where their accommodation was at De Katjeskelder holiday park, then on another hour north to Driebergen-Rijsenburg to the Pink Panthers Rugby Club where they played a three way competition with Wootton Bassett.

The ball winning of the forwards and the handling of the backs were too much for the host side and the touring side from Wootton Bassett didn't worry the Devon side either. Tavistock won both games convincingly.

The next day the tourists had a well earned day-off visiting a local theme park, De Efteling.

After breakfast on Sunday, back on the road again, this time to Eemland RC at Amersfoort, where the Tavistock squad first played the host team and made it 'Double Dutch' with another emphatic win which had the effect of drying up the opposition.

So the final game of the tour was against a Barbarian side comprising elements of local Dutch and English players from Malton Norton Rugby Club in North Yorkshire, in an attempt to even up the sides the teams swopped backs at half-time.

Next season Tavistock Colts are applying to play in the Dutch league!
