LANGSFORD Park, the home of Tavistock AFC is the best in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula Premier League - and that’s official.
At a recent annual league presentation in Plymouth, Tavistock AFC was voted the overall favourite by the other clubs in the division.
It caps a memorable season for the club, and follows up last season’s recognition with last year’s ‘East Award’ - when they were champions of the Division One East and promoted.
Clubs were asked to nominate their first, second and third choices for the ’Carlsberg ‘Best Ground Award’. Those with the most points in each division won £250.
When voting for their favourite ground the board asked clubs to look at the whole match-day experience when placing their votes. It took into consideration the playing surface, condition of changing rooms and ground facilities, hospitality and any other aspects which contributed to make the visit enjoyable.
Chris Fenner, the club chairman, said it was great recognition of all the work that goes on behind the scenes.
A delighted Chris told the Times said it was a huge endorsement of all the great work that takes place at the ground for match days.
‘It’s all the things like the welcome to officials, the pitch, the tannoy, the burger bar, the half-time tea, the media coverage, the clubhouse and post match food, the respect our players and supporters show the opposition; all of it makes us the league’s favourite place to come.
’We would like to thank everybody who puts all that effort in to make it happen from the volunteers to the managers, coaches and players.
‘It really does show the great effort that goes on behind the scenes to make turning up on the day a great experience.’
Mr Fenner thanked all those who voted for Tavistock AFC and who said that they loved coming to play at Langsford Park.
Tavistock AFC’s first pre-season fixture is a friendly match at home against League Two’s Plymouth?Argyle on July 12, kick off at 7.30pm.
