A YOUNGSTER from St Peter's Primary School in Tavistock is proving a real credit when it comes to the martial art of Taekwon-do.

Despite being just aged nine, Tate Budge is already achieving high standards in his sport. Just before Christmas he took his grading for his black tag and impressed the examiner so much that he awarded Tate a credit.

A few days later at a presentation evening held by South Coast Martial Arts he was awarded his new belt and certificate and also the trophy for best junior grading .

Tate has been doing Taekwon-do since he was four years old.

He has trained in both Tavistock and Plymouth and is now a member of South Coast Martial Arts which is run by Chris Wood and trains twice a week .

He is now working towards his black belt, which he will hopefully take later in the year .

Martial arts is not only his only sport as Tate also plays football for Tavistock Town U10s and also attends the Plymouth Argyle development school.
