A SPECIAL food event held on Dartmoor on Saturday proved popular, as crowds of people of all ages came to see, taste and buy locally produced foods.

The food festival was staged by Meat Dartmoor, a small group of independent farmers, and took place in Postbridge Village Hall on Sunday.

In addition to meat reared on Dartmoor, there were stalls providing honey, cakes, bread, vegetables, jams, pickles, fudge, cheese and apples.

There were sample dishes to try and simple meat recipes to take away.

In conjunction with the food festival, The East Dart Hotel cooked up a Dartmoor carvery and held a beer festival.
