THE annual harvest auction at Lamerton Village Hall drew an audience of more than 100 villagers and friends and raised over £1,600 towards village hall funds.

The evening was compered by auctioneers David Kivell and Peter Palmer, who successfully auctioned more than 200 lots in their usual jocular style. Lots ranged from humble, but tasty, jars of chutney and jam to prizes donated by a range of local businesses.

The successful establishment of Lamerton's community allotment earlier in the year was shown by the impressive range of vegetables available. If you wanted either a large marrow or a jar of marrow chutney, this was the place to be!

In the spirit of raising money for a charitable cause, there was some frenzied bidding on many of the items.

Shona Dickinson, village hall chairman, was grateful for the generosity of those who donated prizes, particularly businesses in the area. She said the income from the auction would go towards developing the facilities in the hall.
