METRES of Christmas garlands have been donated to Tavistock Area Support Services by Morrisons supermarket to help brighten Christmas for those who use the Anchorage Centre. The decorations were presented to Andy Lyle of TASS on Friday by Andy Shepherd, general store manager of Morrison's. West Devon and Torridge MP Geoffrey Cox, who had been visiting the Anchorage Centre, was pleased to see local businesses supporting local charities in this way. Andy said: 'These decorations will fill the Anchorage Centre with colour at Christmas.' Mr Shepherd said: 'We are having brand new recyclable garlands in store for Christmas 2007 and we are therefore in a position to give our 2006 decorations to a deserving local cause. 'They operate a valuable service, providing activities and outings throughout the year and make a difference to the people of Tavistock and surrounding areas. We hope these garlands will brighten their future celebrations'.
