TAVISTOCK Area Support Services’ next Life Stories Project event is being held next week and will feature on country life and the ‘big freezes’ of 1947 and 1962/63.

The event is entitled ‘boyhood memories’ of a family farm near Okehampton in the 1960s, including the big freeze.

Neil Mitchell will be recalling his childhood and showing some of his family’s photographs. One memory is of building a full-size igloo in the garden, which had not completely melted away until May.

The talk will be held at the Anchorage Centre on Tuesday, March 20 at 11am. A 1961 Fordson Dexter Tractor will be parked outside.

People are encouraged to go along to the talk and enjoy tea and cake. There is no charge but a donation to TASS will be appreciated.
