Lydford Primary has had solar panels fitted on the school roof this year and is now eagerly awaiting remuneration from the energy they are feeding into the national grid.

The pupils have been inspired to consider the energy used in school by a visual digital display board. They have also been able to compare the energy produced on different days and over time using the website.

The school management expressed thanks to Okehampton College which guided them through the paperwork and Dartmoor National Park for granting £5000 from the sustainable development fund toward the cost.

A small contribution was also arranged by Cllr Hoskin, Devon County Council Green Challenge Fund granted £4500 and 50% of the total cost was granted by the Low Carbon Building body.
