A CHARITY show this Sunday, March 13, organised by three young New Zealanders from Kelly College in aid of the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal, has struck a chord with local musicians.

There have been numerous offers of musical help and even a best wishes message from Prince Charles.

The event, being headlined by South West folk group Professor Johnson, with their Irish and bluegrass sound, will be at the Bedford Hotel, owned by Philip Davies, the grandfather of Julia, Charles and Ginny Howard from Christchurch.

An eclectic night of music, starting at 7.30pm, is promised.?Dr Sean Sweeney will be compere as well as conducting the St Eustachius Singers. There are two local teen bands, Stare's repertoire and MrE, with songs by Alice Cooper and Pink Floyd.

World class trombonist Tony Evans, who has performed at the Paris Opera and many leading jazz clubs, will be joining his wife, Linda, who specialises in singing American 1940s music.

Two Bridges' own Jaemus Downing and guitarist Callum Brown plan to team up for some 'interesting music'. Harmonica player Mike Bond will entertain during the interval.

'Please bring your cheque books as we have some wonderful donated prizes to auction and Christchurch needs all the help it can get,' said Philip Davies.

Ten-year-old Ginny Howard is in charge of the cake stand, which will be selling a large variety of donated cakes. Joella from Nibble and Scoff cakes has a donated a tower of cupcakes.
